Great Review 10 / 10 – Allfather metal
📣 GREAT REVIEW 10/10! ⭐
– “With Servant Of Ahriman, Iranian/Norwegian black metallers From The Vastland have single-handedly paved the way for what could very well be considered a new era of the second-wave of Norwegian black metal…”
– “The most interesting thing about Servant Of Ahriman is that even if you were to strip away its extra layers – remove the Persian textures and compelling historical narrative – you are still left with one of the best modern examples of second-wave riffing and arrangement. Sina doesn’t just use tremolo picking for the sake of the tremolo. Nope. Every riff carries melodic tension that punctuates the glacial weight surging beneath it. In other words, each and every riff is incredibly infectious – in a headbanging, fist-pounding/horn-throwing kinda way – while still sounding evil as all fuck. This is best exemplified in the album’s final track, ‘Decadence’. The centrepiece riff here is structured much like the main riff in the classic Burzum song ‘Jesu Tod’. This riff is so infectious that Sina could have endlessly looped it with the equally infectious drum gallop without ever wearing out its welcome… and the album is chock full of these moments…”
